Prof. Miloš Poliak

Prof. Miloš Poliak acts as dean and professor at the Faculty of Operation and Economics, Transport and Communications at Žilina university in Žilina, Slovakia and at the same time he is a visiting professor at Politechnike Święntokrzyskej v Kielcoch. He is dealing with topic of economics in road transport and transport law in road transport. In the area of transport services he has created his own scientific school, he has prepared 8 PhD graduates within PhD study. At present, prof. Poliak is supervisor and co-supervisor in all degrees of education. He is also the author of 3 monographs, 8 university textbook, 27 scripts and teaching texts. His scientifc papers are published in 12 journals indexed in WOS or SCOPUS databases, in the following 47 scientific journals and in more than 300 professional journals. So far, his publications are published in more than 50 scientific conferences and has more than 170 quotations. Prof. Poliak also participated in solving the state order tasks and foreign grants, too.

Title: Sustainability of Trucks Parking in European Union


The contribution deals with a problem of road trucks parking sustainability. Authors in the first part introduce a review of available approaches to establishment of the parking places in the world. Next in own research they identify problems of the sustainability of present condition of trucks parking places. The aim of contribution is to answer the research question whether is the infrastructure of car parks sustainably built following the development of road freight transport output in the frame of European Union. There are processed the proposals of parking sustainability in European Union securing in the other part of contribution.

Ing. Peter Pištek, PhD

Vice-dean of Faculty of informatics and Information Technologies, Slovak university of Technology in Bratislava


Vice-dean of Faculty of informatics and Information Technologies, Slovak university of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia (from 2015) where he also works as a teaching and research assistant. He gained his PhD in 2014 at this faculty in Applied informatics. From 2013, he is responsible as a supervisor in a join laboratory (faculty and commercial company) with focus on smart transportation as a part of smart city domain. Especially the laboratory tries to use application of IT in automotive industry with several successful project in commercial use.  His research focuses on smart transportation, internet of things, media on demand with growing priority on information security and forensics analysis. He has led 10 team projects and 49 bachelor and master thesis in these areas. He was responsible at faculty for international accreditation from IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology). He is a member of several scientific project teams.

Title: Communication Management in the New Generation of Coaches


Our approach is part of a wide work developed in the context of Smart Cities and Internet of Things (IoT). Competition among coach agencies brought information technologies to this segment by using concept of Media on Demand (MoD) to better serve customers. These coaches must update their content and send reports on regular basis. Several priorities are critical such as security and minimal data transfer (amount of data). We proposed a new fully configurable approach in communication between coaches and a central cloud system. As the bandwidth is ongoing topic in this field, with our solution we manage to use an optimal compress algorithm to specific sets of files which are to be transferred. Compression rate may vary from 0,2 % (image files) to 87,39 % (text files). If the set of rules for compression is set, we can focus on security. Depending on data sensitivity there are several protocols and networks which can be used for transportation during coach’s ride, and they took from 1,49 seconds up to 36,61 seconds for the same data sample. With all this together, we manage to create a new solution for coaches with MoD with minimal overhead.
